Pursuing a Doctorate in Germany?
The workshop is aimed at all RWTH students who are considering a doctoral degree after completing their studies. While an additional academic qualification is very attractive, the decision to pursue this path should be made deliberately. This workshop examines various aspects of organizing a doctoral position and combines helpful knowledge with personal traits that are likely to contribute to success.
Participants receive a concise overview of formal requirements, possible sources of funding (scholarships, third‑party grants, doctoral contracts), and practical advice on how to find suitable doctoral positions in Germany. In addition, personal characteristics that promote a successful dissertation are discussed, as well as the typical advantages and disadvantages of pursuing a doctorate in Germany.
